Several current and future NCMA Great Lakes State Chapter (GLSC) board members attended the  6th Annual Michigan Defense Exposition (MDEX) hosted by the Michigan Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) on April 21, 2015.

Alexander Masters (Procurement Counselor with the Schoolcraft College PTAC, current Chair of Programs and President-elect of the NCMA GLSC) and Robert Bowman (Federal Business Development Manager with Siemens and Vice President-elect of the NCMA GLSC) participated in the Association of the United States Army’s Arsenal of Democracy’s Annual Breakfast held that morning.

“The opportunity to network with Army representatives, defense contractors, and those supporting the industry was invaluable both as a U.S. Army Reserve Officer and NCMA chapter representative,” remarked Bowman. “Alexander and I were able to meet with multiple firms and AUSA representatives, while also being able to share what the PTAC and Siemens are doing to support the defense community.

Masters, Bowman, and Mark Ignash (Procurement Counselor with the Macomb PTAC and PTAC Liaison to the NCMA GLSC) attended the general session MDEX event for the later part of the morning and afternoon. MDEX is unique in sense that it offers an avenue for defense prime and sub-contractors to network with key government and industry representatives, while also providing an opportunity to showcase industry capabilities and product performance enhancements to better serve our warfighters.

“In the defense market, the relationships that are developed and maintained at forums such as this are critical to success for both government and industry” said Ignash. “As a representative of PTAC and NCMA my advice to those interested in diversifying into this market is always to be at this event and events like it because this is where a lot of business gets done.”
